Riverview Resident Recycling & Yard Waste Drop-Off Centers



MATERIAL RECYCLING AND YARD WASTE DROP-OFF CENTERS

Riverview residents can participate in recycling various materials and composting yard clippings at no charge by delivering the materials or yard waste to two convenient collection centers located at City hall and at the Riverview Land Preserve.  The collection centers, hours of business and accepted material types are outlined below.

Drop-Off Collection Centers and Accepted Materials

City Hall, 14100 Civic Park Drive, Riverview, MI 48193. 
Hours: 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Closed Holidays. Phone: 734.281.4239.

Materials Recycled: 

• Household Batteries – deliver to container located at City Clerk's Office.  For batteries 1.5 Volt or higher, please tape both positive and negative battery leads.

• Ink Jet Printer Cartridges, Toner – deliver to container located at Mail Room next to City Clerk's Office.

Riverview Land Preserve, 20863 Grange Road, Riverview, MI – enter from King Road.
Hours: 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday; 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday.  Closed Holidays.  Phone: 734.281.4263.

Obtain a recycling sticker from the facility scale attendant. Requires proof of Riverview residency.

Recycled Materials: Separate containers for each item listed below. Please place items in appropriate container.

• Plastics #1 thru #7 - no containers from automotive oils
• All Types of Metal
• Newspapers, Magazines, Junk Mail, Office Paper
• Unwaxed Cardboard or Boxboard Only– no waxed juice, milk or frozen food containers.
• Clear Glass Only– no green, brown or other colored glass.
• Household Batteries – includes hearing aid batteries, rechargeable batteries, alkaline batteries.  For batteries 1.5 Volt or higher, please tape both positive and negative battery leads.
• Auto, Truck, or Motorcycle Batteries
• Used Oil


Yard Waste:  Separate containers for each item listed, please place material in appropriate container.

• Grass Clippings and Leaves  - paper bags or loose only.
• Brush, limbs that are 4 ft or less in length and 2 inches or less in diameter only
• No logs, stumps or bushes with roots

Where do the materials go and how are they used?

Yard clippings are delivered to a compost facility where they are converted to a soil-like material that is used in gardening and landscaping. 

Scrap materials are transported to a recycling center for further processing by material type and weight.  The separated materials can be used in place of raw materials in the production process of many types of goods and materials sold to businesses and consumers.  Batteries are processed to recover reusable metals.
