Applications must be
submitted before Election Commission Meeting on October 2, 2023 to work the
November election.
The city is in dire need of people for the 2024 early voting, precinct chairs and
inspectors to work the three 2024 elections. Qualified Registered Voters and Students
from 16-18 years of age may work as an election inspector in a precinct as long as the
criteria of 3 certified precinct inspectors, who are qualified registered voters of at least
two political parties, are appointed to the precinct. Training sessions are mandatory for
certification. If you would like to work in the elections, submit your application to the City
Clerk (Monday-Friday 9-5). Inspectors are paid 2023 Minimum wage as follows: $10.10
PER HR (6:00 AM UNTIL THE POLL IS CLOSED) or (shift work of: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
or 2:00 PM to Close of Poll) plus Hrly rate for 3 hr training. Computer knowledge is a
plus, but not necessary. Chairs (13.10/hr and Co-Chairs 13.10/hr Electronic Poll Book

Due to extenuating underground circumstances DTE will be closing Stonewood Street for a few days beginning Friday September 15, 2023 and hopefully reopening on Tuesday September 19, 2023. Traffic control will be provided by DTE and some traffic will be possible at intermittent times of construction over the stated period.

The Riverview Land Preserve will be undergoing a wellfield construction project that will be completed by Sept 30th. New infrastructure is being installed for the capture of Methane gases produced by the landfill. In this scenario it is necessary to remove older waste for the installation of new pipe work which may be a nuisance to some residents. We will do our best to limit these issues and apologize if these issues do occur.

Through the Downriver Riverfront Communities Economic Recovery Implementation Project, there is technical assistance and matching grant funds available for small businesses that were impacted by the closure of the two local DTE coal-fired power plants or the coronavirus pandemic. This support program is being operated by the University of Michigan’s Economic Growth Institute (EGI) in partnership with the DCC Economic Development Department.
